Barcode Hero (founded as Kima Labs, Inc.) is a seed-stage startup with great potential. We have opportunities for great software engineers (iPhone, Android, and Web) with any level of experience.

Our inspiration

What if you could re-design stores from the ground up, knowing that every customer will have a high-powered smartphone in his pocket? How would you help consumers discover new products and make purchase decisions? How would you save customers time and money? What new opportunities would you create for retailers and for manufacturers? How would the balance of power shift between shoppers, stores, and brands? How would you make money?

We're asking these questions at Barcode Hero. The answers are important: 95% of purchases still happen in a physical store, and smartphones are rapidly becoming mainstream. We aim to create a shopping revolution, in which consumers will become smarter and better informed, and shopping in stores can become faster, more fun, and more social. We've launched our first app, Barcode Hero for iPhone, and already shoppers love it. But there's so much more to do. Team & Backers

The founders, engineers themselves, bring a background in personalization and e-commerce from Amazon.com and startup experience from Kleiner Perkins/iFund startup Pelago. Barcode Hero has raised seed funding from great investors, including SV Angel (Ron Conway), The Washington Post Company, and executives from Amazon.com and Wal-Mart.
